Bio

Dr. Hyacinth Paul is an Artist from Dayton, Ohio.  She serves as an Artist in Residence at the Trotwood School District in the year 2023-present, awarded by the Ohio Arts Council.  She is studying the role Arts in mental health and well-being.  She is retired scientist and Professor who started her career as an artist later in life.  Her art works are both abstract and realistic; mostly done in oil’s, acrylics and mixed media.  Her paintings are very colorful because she believes color sparks synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feelings of joy. Her mixed media work is done in fiber and textiles from India.  Sculptures made out of fabric are a new passion of hers and she is telling the stories of the immigrant Indian women and their contributions in most every field in Dayton, OH.  She is also an author of a Childrens book “Billy Jean the Cloud and Bill the Hawksbill Turtle”.  She started her artistic career by completing over 58 works in the 58^th year of her life.  She has over fifty solo/group exhibitions. She entered juried shows since 2019 and was accepted and walked away with a first place and an honorable mention.  She currently showcases her work in Dayton, has a gallery representation and a significant online presence.  She was awarded a grant to study Plein Aire painting at Provence and Barcelona by the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District in 2020.  Hyacinth started curating art for sale and sold artworks of her peers as well as her own.  She has served on several boards in her community and continues to educate through her talks and art classes to a varied section of society both young and old.  She is a strong advocate for the Arts and Mental Health through her extensive reach of speaking engagements and educates every chance she gets.
