Purple Rain in reminiscent of a walk in a brilliant garden in light rain, only it’s raining purple everywhere!  The colors in this painting are vibrant and puts a smile on your face.  This painting is so colorful and is different every time you look at it.  It has a fairy tale quality of a place with beautiful memories and it will keep you wanting to have more. This painting will inspire you if you are having a bad day or just need a little pick me up.  These are two comments I just received: “The painting looks very different from a distance and up close” and “The depth created by the textures pulls you into the painting.”  This painting was done with acrylic paints, a brush and a palette knife exploring different ways to enhance textures on the canvas.  My goal for this painting was to see what colors would work together and how I could bring texture and depth into the painting.  The brilliant yellows and blues with a touch of hot pink and a hint of green are just lovely together.  The Prussian blue background is just wonderful and the cobalt blue is luxurious in that background; the hint of chartreuse green in the bottom of the painting is really pretty as well. What really pulled it together is the light purple rain.  As soon as I dabbed that color on ever so lightly I knew it had to be called purple rain! 

What story does it tell you?  I love how this painting turned out, the light purple rain unified the canvas of colors!  It truly makes me happy!  I did get many complements as soon as I posted it on some of the art groups I follow! Here are a few comment: "What captures my attention first is the space as defined by color. Pulls me in. Then, I became aware of the rhythm because of the brush work. It sets up a vibration." "Field of irises." "Excellent".  "Beautiful. Great title." "Lovely colors." "I feel like I can walk into to it and be surrounded in purple blooms." "Looks like a Monet painting." This last comment was such a huge complement.  She even sent me the painting of a field of irises with a glimpse of Monet's home in Giverny in the background.  All in all the painting makes me happy and I hope it will bring you as much joy.  It has a certain mystery to it and you will find out many little nuances each time you look at it from near, far or somewhere in between.  I think I was quite successful in adding depth to the painting.  This painting makes a statement.
